Teaching | information & philosophy
Amer has taught clarinet and chamber music at Oberlin College and served as a teaching artist for Oberlin Conservatory's tour in Jordan. He has presented guest classes at the University of Akron, the Akron Youth Symphony, and is currently a teaching artist with Yale’s Music in Schools Initiative. Additionally, he teaches a small studio of Yale College students.
Amer's teaching philosophy is rooted in helping his students develop their musical voices so that they are comfortable expressing themselves in any setting. Through the studying of a comprehensive collection of musical repertoire and fundamental exercises, students will become equipped with tools to help guide them to be successful in any career within or outside of music.
